The Facility Group, with AUKETT+HEESE as General Planner, were appointed by General Electric to design and build the first European, and fourth worldwide, GE Global Research Center.

The building is situated at the Munich Technical University research campus in Garching, which is between Munich Airport and Munich City Centre. Within its 10.000 sq.m. area the GE Global Research Center provides research facilities for GE alternative energy systems, power, sensors, Electro-technology, advanced medical imaging, and automative applications. Conference facilities for 150 people is also included.
